We all made it safe and sound after our day and a half of traveling. After some much needed sleep we woke up this morning and headed off to meet the Methodist Bishop and to see the United Methodist School here in Ghana. Since the Bishop was tied up in a meeting, we went on to the Methodist school to meet the children first. Let me tell you that this was the most rewarding experience on the trip so far. The children were adorable and they all were very welcoming. Some of the girls danced for us while the boys were drumming. They were very impressive and entertaining. They asked us some questions about life in the United States and one boy asked if he were to visit the United States because for some reason or another he loved the idea of there being snow in the winter! Also another boy asked us if we got beaten when we were at school and everyone was shocked that the teachers in Ghana beat their children. We responded with a stern, “No Way!” All of the children asked us for our email addresses and phone number. We took A LOT of pictures with them and then, sadly, we had to leave them.
We went back to the hotel to eat lunch. After lunch we went to go see the Bishop. He was very grateful for his picture frame that we brought him and the choir CD. He said a prayer blessing us and said that, “No matter if we live east, west, south, or north we are all one.” This line was very powerful to many people in the group. After we visited with the bishop we went to the United Methodist Women’s sewing group. The boys in our group ordered t-shirts and a lot of the girls bought fabric. After our long day we went back to the hotel to eat dinner. Right now we are just relaxing with each other and in a little while we are going to do our devotionals. We are all very tired, so it will be another early night. Hope all is well with all of you. We are all doing well, and LOVE it here!
